Genome Puzzle work

25 Puzzles

Did a lot of work on alien genomes this week. This will become the second "Chapter" of Puzzle25 when it's in a more polished state.
I am starting to think the linear structure of Puzzle25 will have to change, I'm not sure that I really love the linear nature anymore. Completing puzzles in sequence does align more with the NotPron/TTT model, but given the growing variety of things I'm finding interesting to construct, I don't know if it's still the vision I have in mind. I sort of like the idea of a sprawling content web where completing puzzles gives clues in other places and it's not immediately obvious what connects to what.
For now, I can solve this problem with the "Extras" page, which is becoming a dumping ground for puzzle concepts. I'd like to keep being able to add original 5x5s too, which becomes more complicated if you eventually "Finish" that machine and move on.
I am also acutely aware that this sort of sprawling approach is the death of many of my ADHD-inspired projects. Originally, this was supposed to be a finite, completeable project, but it grows more and more with time.
But I kind of like that - I enjoy the idea that over time this can become a dense, interconnected knot of puzzles and clues that takes longer and longer to untangle.

In any event, one thing I will build soon is a sort of "Progress Tracker" or even maybe a "Profile Page", where people can look at what they've already done and what they still have left to do.
I don't think the linear progress incrementer I initially implemented will work for much longer, but I'll leave it in place until the moment I pull the trigger on what I'm going to call the "Sprawl Transition".

Will have a lot of new thoughts next Monday I'm sure.
