11 Puzzles

Live released to a few friends. Homepage had a substantial rework, and now contains some web 1.0 counters for how many players and puzzles there are. I've set a new goal that there will be updates at least every Monday, although while things are slow at work I hope to just add as much content as I can whenever I can. It could be cool in terms of evergreen content to continually add new puzzles as I go, after a few years that becomes an impressive backlog of content. I think I'd eventually finish off the journal/tablet part and move on to other styles, and I have an idea of how I would do this already.

Early feedback has been good, I've caught some typos and a few other problems. The journal and a few other things are not displaying correctly in FireFox, will have to make it a priority to install it and do a test run. The journal probably gets a major rework prior to a public release, it is currently the only AI asset and while I like the display, it would be nice to have a page selection, table of contents, or something similar. Will continue to mull this issue once I am more ahead on puzzles.

I also felt the project is now in a place where I reapplied for adsense acceptance, it now contains over 100 files, a devblog, an account system, and a more polished look than my previous submission. Technically with two sidebar ads a full playthrough of the game after briefly exploring is 30-40 ads, and currently seems to be about an hour or two of total playtime, that should generate a lot of ad refreshes etc. If this could become something that generates $100/mo, that will cover all the bills for the website and I'll consider it a success, although that's currently a lofty goal. If it becomes a more serious project I can look at Patreon as an option too.

This morning I got a call for two large projects at my real job, so this week's updates may be smaller. Goal is still to hit 15 puzzles or more, but that feels a lot more achievable than in past weeks now that the groundwork of PHP background code is all built.

Until next week!
